How To Sign Up for Spring Handwork Club

Updated: Dec 17, 2019

Dear Families of Handwork Enthusiasts,

To accommodate the growing number of interested students, there will be two Handwork Club days a week in the Spring, divided by grade.

Spring Handwork Club Schedule: TUESDAYS 3:30-4:45 - 1st and 2nd grades Jan 14th-May 19th (May 26th will be a make up day in case of school closure or other unexpected scheduling change)$170 includes supplies and snack. Depending on the student's skill level and interest they will be working on a variety of knitting or crocheting projects. WEDNESDAYS 3:30-4:45 - 3rd grade and up

Jan 15th- May 20th (May 27th will be a make up day in case of school closure or other unexpected scheduling change)$170 includes supplies and snack

3rd graders: Students will continue to explore their crochet skills, using their knowledge gained from following patterns to make a hat or design their own magical creatures.  Halfway through the semester they will have the choice to experiment with embroidery and hand sewing as we begin learning these skills in their class.

4th grade and up:  As soon as I know who would like to join, I will have individual conversations with the students to come up with projects that challenge and excite them. Some examples would be needle felting pictures or forms, lace knitting, fair isle knitting, quilt squares, fingerless gloves, weaving, crocheted mini backpacks, cross stitch pictures... there are so many possibilities! ***Registration is now open!***

Maximum of 10 students per section. Please get in touch as soon as possible if your child wishes to participate. Contact Ms.Anais at aadair@waldorfnola.org to sign up.

Important Note: Handwork Club is a time for students who are passionate about handwork and want more time to expand and hone their skill sets. This is a quiet, calm and most importantly focused space.  If your child has a lot of energy at the end of the school day, a movement based extracurricular may suit them better.  Feel free to contact Movement teacher Lila Campbell for ideas. You can reach her at lcampbell@waldorfnola.org
