Meet Our New Head of School

Updated: Aug 30, 2019

Mr. Peychaud visits our Handwork Room.

Joseph Peychaud is a longtime educator who is a native New Orleanian, Vietnam Veteran, activist, community advocate, and facilitator. He has served as President of St. Katharine Drexel Preparatory School (formerly Xavier University Preparatory) as well as President of the Climana Neighborhood Association. Today he continues to serve as a Consumer / Community Advocate for the Board of Directors of the Sewerage and Water Board.

A St. Augustine High School alumnus, Mr. Peychaud went on to complete his Bachelor of Arts in Education/Liberal Arts from Xavier University of Louisiana. He also earned his Masters in Urban Studies from University of New Orleans. He first came to WSNO as a Board member in 2017, when he was introduced to Waldorf education. As we moved to our new campus and entered a new phase of development, he felt compelled to help us grow.

"Waldorf School of New Orleans is doing something unique," says Mr. Peychaud. "I'm here to lead it into its next phase and help it grow to bring Waldorf education to as many New Orleans families as possible."

Mr. Peychaud is joining WSNO at a time of tremendous growth and potential between our Main Campus at the Rose Collaborative and our bustling Uptown Early Childhood Center. We are thrilled to welcome him to our team!
